Beslan opens new mosque

The opening provokes an ambiguous attitude in North Ossetian society.

In Beslan, faithful Muslims prepare to open a mosque. The opening
provokes an ambiguous attitude in the North Ossetian society. The mosque
was to be opened a month ago. However, because of Beslan tragedy
anniversary and the terrorist attack at a marкet in Vladikavkaz the
opening was postponed.

After terrorist attack in Beslan and Vladikavkaz, population of North
Ossetia began to associate terrorism with Islam. The Muslim clergy of North
Ossetia tried to persuade people that a comparison of true faith and banditry
is unacceptable. The mosque should help victims to deal with these
difficult matters. At the insistence of “The Mothers of Beslan” public
organization, Muslims renounced an idea of opening the mosque on the day
of another anniversary of the terrorist attack in a Beslan school. Then
the Muslim Religious Boards in North Ossetia decided to wait for the end
of 40 days of mourning on lost at a marкet in Vladiкavкaz on the 9th of
September.

Meanwhile, the head of the Muslim Religious Boards in North Ossetia,
Hadzhimurat-Hadzhi Gatcalov, said that “the reconstruction of the mosque
in Beslan was done with the money of a local businessman, who lost his son in
School No 1”. A public person of North Ossetia, Vissarion Aseev,
stated that “future relations between Beslan Muslims and victims of the
terrorist attacks depend on the local religious boards. The Interior Ministry in North
Ossetia should explain to fellow citizens, that an interview of the
former mufti Ali-Hadzhi Evteev, in which he said he studied under
Hattab, has nothing in common with a position of current Muslim leaders.
It is easy to disappoint people, but it is much more difficult to bring
about understanding of society shocked by more frequent terrorist attacks”.
