'Magas' was captured without too much noise

Ingush President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov offered militants in the republic
the chance to surrender at a press-conference in Magas. Commenting on
last year's assassination attempt on his life by Taziyev, Yevkurov
said that no one will torture him for evidence. Yevkurov noted that
while the Federal Security Service played the main role in capturing
Taziyev, locals and the police assisted in the operation.

Taziyev is expected to name the officials and businessmen who pay
tribute to militants for security. Yevkurov noted that this money
kills police officers, servicemen and innocent people. There were also
many cases of attacks on cash-in-transit guards, postal services, and
private houses in 2009-2010. The militants launched attacks because
they started receiving fewer bribes.

Yevkurov said that Taziyev still has many followers and there is a
risk of revenge for the captured leader. The president also noted the
falling crime level. But it is still not safe, he said, giving the
recent Sagopshah attack as an example, with many injured and 2 killed.
He emphasized that the capture of the resistance leader will stabilize
the situation in the region.
