A friendly match against the national team of Iran was called a rehearsal for the game against Armenia by the head coach of Russia, Dick Advocaat. The plan failed. Our players proved the views that they cannot pull themselves together in a friendlies.
The rivals were equal. Dangerous moments near goals of the teams were few. A mistake by our defense caused the only goal in the match at the very end of the game. All efforts of the Russians to score an equalizer failed. We were defeated in the second friendly match in a row by not very strong rivals.
Russian media heavily criticized the national team for the defeat. Experts believe that with such a manner of playing we have little chance of beating Armenia on March 26.
