The former head coach of the Russian national football team, Guus Hiddink, will be the head of Makhachkala’s Anzhi FC. Hiddink has signed a contract for eighteen months, the online resource goal.com reported. The publication claims that the Dutchman will join Anzhi at a training session in Turkey.
I'll remind you that earlier rumors leaked in the press, that the Dutch specialist had arrived in Moscow for negotiations with the leadership of the Makhachkala club, and on February 15th, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph wrote that the Makhachkala club had offered the coach a salary of 10 million euros a year. The European press also wrote that Hiddink's assistants at Anzhi will be the former coach of the Dutch club Utrecht, Ton du Shatin, and Zeljko Petrovic, who worked in Japan.
As was already reported in VK, after Yuri Krasnozhan, who had been appointed the head coach in December and did not manage to lead the team to any final match, left his position on February 13th, many began to talk that soon a famous foreign coach will come to Makhachkala. It is still not known what the real reason for the resignation of Krasnozhan was. Either it finally became possible to negotiate with Hiddink, who for a long time was not sure whether to go to Anzhi or not, or the reason was the conflict of Yuri Krasnozhan with Anzhi's Cameroonian forward, Samuel Eto'o, and other foreign players.
Krasnozhan’s resignation coincided with the departure of the renowned Italian specialist Fabio Cappelo from the England team. This fact made many assume that the Italian coach would soon be at Anzhi. Possibly the emerging negotiations with the Italian coach forced Hiddink to act more resolutely and to make a final decision. We shall have to wait for the definite announcement of Guus Hiddink’s arrival, which will mark the second coming of the Dutch coach to Russian football.
