CSKA Moscow lost 4-1 in their return game with Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions’ League and is out of the competition. Despite the crushing score, the CSKA players didn’t look so bad at all, and if Moscow goalkeeper could manage Ronaldo’s shot the result might have been different.
CSKA players started the game in a very disciplined manner and even threatened the hosts’ goal a couple of times. However, in the middle of the first time Mourinho’s team took the initiative and it became clear that a ball to the CSKA’s goal was only a matter of time. After the first two balls demoralized team easily let the rival score another one. Nevertheless Karim Benzema managed to score a ball into Reals’ goal. But the final word remained with the Madrid players: Ronaldo scored another goal (second for him in this game and third in the two games with the Moscow team). The defeat of CSKA looked quite natural, as the leader of Spanish Championship is really much better.
After this defeat of CSKA there are no more Russian teams in Europe: Zenit lost to Benfica, Lokomotiv – to Atletico and Rubin – to Olympiakos.
