Stop shouting!

Stop shouting!

Fans and journalists have always mocked loud moans of some tennis players. Videos, in which sportswomen moans are imposed on porno, appeared in  the Internet. But it seems the situation might turn into a drama. At least, for some prominent sportswomen. The WTA vice-president on PR, Andrew Walker, said that the executive council discussed the theme and intends to make a certain decision.

The theme of shouting tennis players was actively discussed in last year, when the first racket of the world Caroline Wozniacki said that screams of Maria Sharapova and Viktoria Azarenko didn’t let her to concentrate on the game and react at strikes by the sound of a ball. The rivalries tried to laugh it off. Bit Wozniacki has found supporters among tennis players, journalists and tennis officials. When Agnieszka Radwańska accused Viktoria Azarenka of loud shouting, after she was defeated in Australian Open, sporting functionaries promised to deal with it.

In the beginning of Grand Slam Tournament in Wimbledon Ian Richie, the head of the pan-Englich club, said that the organizational committee thinks loud shouts of tennis players spoil games. He also accused young players of “problems with manners.”

The official was outraged by Viktoria Azarenko, who almost set a sound record on the first day of the tournament. The audience is shocked not only by loudness, but also length of her shouts. Sometimes they reach 1.5 second. Mr. Richie stated that the organizational committee preferred to hear less shouts: “Players can make complaints. If one tennis player shouts during the match, while another doesn’t, it disturbs very much. We concern with the fact that fans at stadiums and watching TV do not like these moans.”

“Of course, people can do what they want, but they should understand players who shout. Almost two thirds of women Tournament shout,” Viktoria says. “I have been shouting with strikes since I was 10. It helped me to strike harder. I cannot stop shouting, because it helps me during the game.”

However, if the authorities of the WTA will take harsh steps against women shouting at tennis-courts, Azarenko and Sharapova would have to face it. Dissatisfaction of the audience is the most powerful argument, and officials couldn’t ignore it.
