Several weeks ago rumors appeared that Dick Advocaat might leave the national team and head the Dutch club. However, there were tensions between the head coach and the administration of the Russian Football Union for long time. The fact that according to the contract a decision on prolongation of it should take place right before the Euro-2012 caused many questions by experts and fans. However, later the RFU postponed the decision making to the end of Euro-2012. But the Dutch coach didn’t want to prolong the contract.
The president of the RFU Sergei Fursenko commented on the situation: “During the negotiations with the head coach of the Russian national team Dick Advocaat the Russian Football Union suggested him to make the joint decision on prolongation of the contract after the end of the European Cup. At the same time, the head coach has a right to make his own decision ahead of the championship. Dick invoked the right. We respect it. We are sure it won’t influence negatively on our team playing at the European Cup.”
Many football experts do not share this view. Few national teams go to major contests with coaches who actually withdrew cooperation with the national federation. One thing is when the team is headed by a motivated person, and another – when a person who has a guaranteed contract with the other club. It is expected that Dick Advocaat and PSV will sign the contract for a season. This week all official documents should be signed.
Therefore, the RFU should have to think about a new head coach for the national team. According to the leading sporting periodicals, there are three candidates for the position.
The coach of Zenit Luciano Spaletti, the head coach of the second national team of Russia Yuri Krasnozhan and the head of the youth national team of Russia Nikolai Pisarev.
