Yesterday Juan Insaurralde and Kim Kallstrom participated in a training session of Moscow Spartak FC for the first time. They will play as numbers “2” and “21”. The defender Insaurralde played for Argentina's Boka Juniors before Spartak, and halfback Kallstrom played for the French team “Lyon.”
“We have made three purchases in this transfer window: an experienced central defender, an experienced midfield halfback and a player of the Brazilian national team. We have gained three football players,” the general director of Spartak, Valery Karpin, says. “None of the useful players has left the team. Three players have arrived and the head coach will decide who will play. Even our rivals call our current team a gold medal contender. And I agree with that. This squad enables us to fight for first place; in addition we have an experienced and professional coach. That is why there is no doubt. Spartak should fight for the top with this squad.”
“I was welcomed warmly,” Juan Insaurralde says. “The trust put in me will be fulfilled on the pitch. Valery Georgiyevich welcomed me amazingly, as well as the team. I’m satisfied with everything in general. I’m glad I have made this choice. I hope I will fulfil the hopes of the management. I feel I am home, in a home atmosphere, but of course I will have to undergo adaptation. I hope to deal with it as soon as possible, considering the fact I am in such a beautiful city. The most important thing for a defender is providing the team with confidence in defense and attack. The main aspect for a player is self-criticism after every training session, every game, an analysis of one's game. It helps to correct mistakes, which we make sometimes of course.”
Kim Kallstrom thinks that he is a classic halfback who plays box-to-box: “That is why I have no preferences for playing in defense or attack. I can play in both positions, box-to-box. I was invited by such a well-known team as Spartak. It is important for me to prove that I can do my best to gain the top places with my team. I’m proud to play for such a club. The negotiations were held quickly and painlessly, I liked it.”
