The all-Russian competition of parachute jumpers on landing accuracy was held in Ingushetia. It is one of a preparation rounds for the Russian championship (September) and the World Cup in Dubai (November).
More than 20 participants – champions of Russia, Europe, and the world – have made thousands of jumps in their life. The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, stated that in the nearest future a first team of Ingush parachute jumpers would appear: “The guys will be fans of the sport and we will have our own champions.” Yevkurov contributed to popularization of air sports – he jumped together with the complete world champion Denis Dobryakov who has 10800 jumps from 3000 meters; and then Yevkurov jumped alone from 150 meters.
The deputy chairman of the Voluntary Association for Assistance to Army, Air Force and Navy (DOSAAF), Viktor Chernov, stated that parachute sport id developing, despite all difficulties. Yevkurov mentioned the role of DOSAAF in training of military specialists, staff for technical professions and in development of air sport. The chairman of the Ingush office of DOSAAF, Kureish Zarubov, told VK that “in 2014 a military patriotic club will be established in Ingushetia. It will be a DOSAAF office which will prepare fire-fighters, mountaineers parachute jumpers and specialists in other 150 spheres. An air-club will function. About 1000 people will graduate from the Center annually. However, the basic team of Ingush parachute jumpers will appear earlier. 25 parachutes will be purchased.”
“Parachutes are controlled. They were constructed in such a way that they show the least horizontal speed during landing. You can vary the speed, and a person achieves high accuracy in landing,” VK was told by Denis Dobryakov.
Jumpers estimated the jump by Yevkurov. “He has made everything professionally and demonstrated a technique which has been being perfected for years. The head of the republic jumped not from a standard height – 800 meters. If anything went wrong, he would have no chances to unfold the emergency parachute. That is why the jump was risky and complex. I can honestly say that the head of region is a bold and fearless person,” the complete world champion Alexei Burenin said.
