Kaladze remains in Milan and speaks up for Demetradze

Kaladze is not considering the option of leaving Milan.

The captain of the Georgian football team, Kaha Kaladze, announced recently that he is holding negotiations with the famous Italian club on renewal of the contract. The Georgian back has played ten seasons in Milan, winning several championships in Serie A and the Champions League .

"Many changes are happening in Milan today - some players are finishing their careers, some have left, a new coach has been invited to manage the team. Regarding my career, I'm proud of the ten years I've spent in Milan. Under the contract I will play one more year and the team's management proposed I renew it. From July 20 we will start training and I'll negotiate the contract's conditions. The last season was not successful and a bit strange. I played only ten games for the team, while during the last nine years I've played in more than 300 matches. Leonardo resigned, and I'm sure I will prove to the new coach that I come up to Milan's level. I'm not considering the option of leaving the team. There were rumors that I'd held negotiations with the management of Dinamo-Kiev, but it's not true, though we are good friends," said Kaladze in an interview to the newspaper "Segodnya. Sport"

He also commented on a story about another famous Georgian football player, Georgii Demetradze, who has been detained on a charge of links with the mafia, participation in illegal betting and blackmail.

"Until Demik (Georgii Demetradze) is released we will continue suing and will appeal to the Strasbourg court if necessary. If I knew the man was guilty I wouldn't say a word. The law is equal for everyone. But this situation looks absurd, when you know the man is innocent. In Georgia, many people are afraid to express the truth. But I will speak about real things that take place in our country. And people from all over the world will find out the truth. I promise! What is happening here is unbelievable. The authorities speak about development and democracy. But take a look, this is our democracy. The charges against Demik are ridiculous, as a professional sportsman he just didn't have free time for this dirty business."
