Guus Hiddink stays with "Anzhi"

By Vestnik Kavkaza

Welcome to the studio of Vestnik Kavkaza, Gia Saralidze is in the studio. As always, when I come to the studio, it means that we will be talking about football. Well, the main events of the world of football are behind us, the qualifying games for the World Cup, and club championships - all have been gradually completed, all have come to an end. But football life does not stop. I would like to point out one thing, which is, as it turned out, polemical. Although, in my opinion, it is a positive story. I'm talking about the fact that, first, the rumor that Fabio Capello is going to leave the Russian team, at least, he is going to bring everything to its logical conclusion - to the qualifying tournament (I hope that the team will get to the World Cup), and he will go with it to the championship, and then it will be clear what Fabio Capello will do in the future.

And other news, also, in my opinion, is very positive - that Guus Hiddink stays with "Anzhi" Makhachkala. You know, in my opinion, it was obviously a good thing that these two experts stayed, that I did not expect that I will have to talk about it in the studio. But the fact is that a lot of people, certainly respected and knowledgeable about football, have strange reactions to the news. First about Fabio Capello. In my opinion, to say that this expert does not know what he is doing, does not know how to train, or does not know the world of football is something silly. But there were some people who believe that the Russian national team should have a native coach, and only in this case can the team achieve anything. All the practice and theory show that it was under a foreigner, Gus Hiddink, that our team has achieved more or less an outstanding result. Actually, not more or less, but a really good result, for example in the European Championship. Yes, there were all sorts of reservations. Yes, we got to the championship just because the Croats defeated the English at Wembley, which has been recognized by many as a miracle. But the fact remains. Guus Hiddink achieved it. Under him the team played fun, good quality, spectacular football. And even in the qualifiers, I never tire of talking about it, which ended with the Slovenian fiasco, Guus Hiddink's team looked good. And the matches against Germany, the same team that then played great in the tournament, the team performed no worse than the Germans, and in some components, parts of the game, even better, in my opinion. And not just mine.

So the fact that our team's coach is a foreigner, I do not see anything wrong with it. On the contrary, with Fabio Capello it is a big success, that after Guus Hiddink, who we have kicked out from his position in an unkind way, even though it was a mistake, in my opinion, were able to get another good coach. There are not so many good coaches out there in the world. So let's appreciate it.

The same applies to Guus Hiddink. All the talk, that he stays at "Anzhi" just to make money, that he does not bring anything to Russian football - it's all nonsense. Guus Hiddink brings a lot to our football team and will bring a lot. Yes, a person earns quite a lot of money, but this big money is earned. He has the name, he has the experience. And of course he has something to teach the players in his team. Well of course, it would have been good if only Russian players, maybe even only sportsmen from the North Caucasus played for the Makhachkala club, it would have been perfect. But it is not possible yet. Well, at least there is an infrastructure around, to allow people to work and learn how to work with great coaches, with good players, star players. So I see in this cooperation with the two great coaches, foreigners, only positive things for our football. I hope that the next championship of Russia will prove that I am right, that it will show that Guus Hiddink is a good coach and contributes a great deal to Russian football, that games of the Russian national team in the qualification round, and possibly the World Cup, will also prove me right. That's all. We will meet again to talk about what is happening in the world of football, not only in competitions, but also in transfer matters. Football never sleeps.
