In a match against Bulgaria in St. Petersburg, the Russian National Team won with a score of 1:0. Despite the positive result, the rating of the first game under the supervision of Advocaat in Russia was negative. The Russian team demonstrated unintelligible, disorganized and dull play. The only goal was scored because of a mistake by the Bulgarian goalkeeper.
However, Dick Advocaat said after the match that he was satisfied with the game. The football fans hope that at the Championship of Europe in 2012 Advocaat’s team will show more quality and attractive play.
The National Team of Slovakia, considered the main opponent of Russia in the struggle for first place in B group, played against Croatia. In the 50th minute Miroslav Stoch scored a goal for Slovakia. But after 4 minutes Nikitan Yelavich scored a goal making the final score 1:1.
Ireland lost to Argentina 1:0. Armenia lost to Iran 3:1, though they had been 1:0 up. Georgia and Moldova ended their match 0:0. Azerbaijan and Kuwait levelled at 1:1. The Turkish team, under the supervision of Guus Hiddink, won 2:0 in a match against Romania. Both goals were scored in the final minutes by Emre Belezoglu and then Arda Turan.
