Russia were beaten 1-0 at home by Slovakia in a Group B Euro 2012
qualifier on Tuesday evening. A bad clearance by goalkeeper Igor
Akinfeev in the 27th minute left Vasily Berezutsky stranded and
Miroslav Stoch took his chance. Russia, who had previously only lost
one European qualifier at home, were unable to find an equalizer,
despite plenty of pressure.
Macedonia vs. Armenia 2:2
Armenian is in the same group as Russia. The side was denied victory
by an injury time equalizer.
Germany vs. Azerbaijan 6:1
The clinical Germans had no problem disposing of Azerbaijan.
Georgia vs. Israel 0:0
Georgia now has 2 points after a 1-1 draw with Greece in the opening fixture.
Turkey vs. Belgium
The new team of the former Russian coach Guus Hiddink recorded its
second victory in the qualifiers.
