The Baku Gymnastic School held the so-called Evening of Gymnastics. Gymnasts performed in four types of sports: free calisthenics, men and women’s artistic gymnastics and acrobatics. Education Minister Mikhail Jabbarov, Vice President of the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation Altay Gasanov, guests, coaches of the national gymnastic team took part in the meeting.
Adil Guseynzadeh, the director of the Baku Gymnastic School, an international judge for trampoline and tumbling, noted that Baku had great interest in gymnastics.
In his words, the Gymnastic School has over 700 children training. “The school has sections for five types of sports: artistic gymnastics and free calisthenics, acrobatics, tumbling and a new type of gymnastics in Azerbaijan, the trampoline,: noted Guseynzadeh. In his words, all types of gymnastics are beautiful.
“Our gymnasts have recently taken part in international competitions. In June, Ramil Damirov and Elmir Rustamov returned from Voronezh with bronze medals. In September, acrobats Nurjan Jabbarly and Agasif Ragimov made a successful performance in Germany and won a gold medal.
Artistic gymnast Ali Khalilov took part in an international competition in Novosibirsk in September, winning a gold medal. You all know that Baku held the European Free Calisthenics Championship in June, Alia Pashayeva of our school took part in the competition. She won a silver medal in group performances. We are very proud of our athletes and we believe that they will cheer us with even higher results at European, world championships and the Olympic Games,” said Guseynzadeh.
Then, the gala concert started, gymnasts of the school and members of the Azerbaijani national team demonstrated their skills.
After the conclusion of performances, some gymnasts distinguished throughout the year received special awards.
Alia Pashayeva, a member of the Azerbaijani national team in team performances, vice champion of Europe in 2014, received the Best Gymnast Premium. Ali Khalilov, winner of the recent international tournament in Russia, was named the Best Promising Gymnast, Irada Gurbanova, the chief coach of the Azerbaijani national acrobatic team, was named the Best Coach, Rza Aliyev, the only international judge for men and women’s competitions, was named the Best Judge.
Education Minister Mikhail Jabbarov, Vice President of the Azerbaijani Gymnastic Federation Altay Gasanov, Secretary General of the Federation Farid Gaibov and school Director Adil Guseynzadeh.
The education minister noted in his speech that Azerbaijan had done a lot of construction in education and other sectors. According to Jabbarov, about a 3,000 schools and education centers had been constructed or reconstructed in 10 years.
“No wonder we witness the updated image of the Baku gymnastic school. Naturally, all the work done is part of the policy of the state leader, and we need to continue the work in all directions,” said the minister.
Jabbarov noted that the gymnastic school was rich with traditions, it had many achievements to be proud of.
“Graduates of the school include champions and prize-winners of champions of the world, Europe and Olympic Games. Having watched today’s performances, spoken with teachers working here, authorities, I want to express confidence that the biggest successes of the school wait ahead.
I express hope and faith that tomorrow’s champions and athletes raising the Azerbaijani flag are among today’s children,” emphasized Jabbarov.
In his words, everyone knows that gymnastics has recently become a popular type of sports in Azerbaijan.
“I must emphasize that a special role here belongs to Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, the president of the Azerbaijani Gymnastic Federation,” noted the minister.
As a conclusion, the minister thanked teachers and coaches of the school, wished them success.
