The first all-republic festival "Nart games" has taken place in the sport complex "Manezh" in Vladikavkaz. The organizers of the festival - the Youth Ministry of North Ossetia, planned the festival focusing on the national style and popularization of the traditional culture and sports of North Ossetia. The nations of North Ossetia are united by many things, particularly sports, when strength, adroitness and respect for a rival are in priority. The narts, who gave the name to the festival, the heroes of the Ossetian epos, liked to compete in strength and check if they are prepared for battle.
The competition started with a minute of silence to remember the people who died during a recent terrorist attack in the central market. "Someone is interested in keeping us in tension", the sport minister of the republic Rustem Kelekhsayev said, "But we should be together, and the "Nart games" festival will unite the youth and strengthen its patriotism".
One hundred thirty five participants of the games competed in fourteen sports: arm wrestling, weightlifting, ball throwing, archery and so on. Women also competed in some sports. Rinidg has a special place in North Caucasus. Equestrian sports included in the next games.
