Russian boxers to prepare for European Games in Caucasus

Two weeks remain before the start of the First European Games, which will be held from June 12 to 28. 291 athletes will represent Azerbaijan at the European Games. This is the second-largest number after Russia, which will be presented by the biggest delegation at the First European Games.

The national boxing team of Russia has already been determined.

Women: Sayana Sagataeva (weight category 51), Elena Savelieva (weight category 54), Zinaida Dobrynina (weight category 60), Anastasia Belyakov (weight category up to 64), Jaroslav Yakushina (weight category up to 75).

Men:  Bator Sagaluev (weight category up to 49 kg), Vasily Vetkin (weight category 52), Bahtovar Nazirov (weight category 56), Constantine Bogomazov (weight category 60), Maxim Dadashev (weight category up to 64), Alexander Besputin (weight category 69), Maxim Koptyakov (weight category up to 75), Pavel Silyagin (weight category 81), Sadam Magomedov (weight category 91), Hasan Gimbatov (weight category over 91).

According to Constantine Bogomazov, the Russian boxers have just returned from a charge in Dombai: "In the first week we were able to walk, get some fresh air, see nature. And for two weeks we were punching bags, running hard in the mountains. So there were severe tests. The mountain is 1.5 km up, 1.5 kilometers down. At first it was hard, but in the end it was easy to work. Everything is ready, everyone wants to win and is prepared only to win. Everyone goes to Baku to receive at least a medal."

According to the boxer, the team will now travel to Sochi, where preparations will continue: "We will have sparring, punchbags, we are going to prepare our weight, those who have problems with it. My personal coach is Oleg Menshikov, he will be with me. And every sportsman will have a coach who is worried about  him and wants him to win. I'm expecting my own victory. In another way I do not even want to think. There is now one final gathering. In principle, we are in shape. We have a good team. Everyone is in a positive mood. Summer is starting, the vacations. But we will not rest, we are working at this moment."

In total, 20 sport tournaments will be held in Baku: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than six thousand athletes from all over Europe will represent their countries during the 17 days of competition.
