Resignation of the head coach of Dynamo, Sergey Silkin, after disastrous defeat by Spartak is the brightest event of first rounds of the Russian Football Championship. Neither quality of playing nor new names (there are plenty of them) hasn’t become a trademark of the championship. The most discussable events are failures of Dynamo and CSKA even on the background of the Olympic Games which attracted football audience to their side.
In a year Dynamo’s coach, not a young experienced person, passed the way downstairs – from global love to fan’s shouts to losers: “Man, go and train kids.” At the same time, if Leonid Slutsky can find a place beyond CSKA, he is not a coach of one club, I’m afraid unexpected and short success in Dynamo of Silkin could appear to be a present of Fortune which will stay useless. Why so?
I won’t repeat numerous versions by experts who started to give characteristics to playing, or its absence, of Dynamo in recent time. It is obvious that Monamakhs’ crown appeared to be too heavy to the coach. The point, however, is in the other thing.
Considering the current structure of the club, there is no coach who could work there, if we speak about a long-term perspective. Dynamo’s management is such a complicated mechanism which is similar to the structure of the court chancellery of Byzantine Caesars that neither foreign star nor talented country fellow nor perspective specialist could stay at the coach seat for more than two seasons. If the first one is successful, the hidden struggle among “advisers” will cause difficult problems ahead of the second season. That’s what happened in the situation with Silkin.
Even support of powerful Stepashin didn’t help: after the third defeat the head of the Russian Audit Chamber denied his offspring. The more powerful bureaucrats are involved into the management of any Russian football team, the less chances to make their offspring top.
In this sense, Silkin, Voronin, Maksimovich, and other participants observed by the audience play the static roles. The leading roles of Dynamo’s collapse stay in shadow.
