The secret of the resort’s popularity among tourists from former Soviet republics is its “working” language
Turkey is perhaps the favourite destination country of tourists from the former USSR. Greek and Cypriot resorts are more costly and the service at Bulgarian resorts is similar to that of Crimea and the Russian south. That’s why Turkey is the best place to spend one’s vacation.
Many Russian tourists, as well visitors from other former Soviet countries prefer to spend their vacation in the Turkish port town of Kemer.
Kemer is a small town situated between the sea and the mountains. According to one opinion, its name comes from the word “belt”. According to another, the name comes from the name of the Chimera, the legendary monster killed by the Greek hero Bellerophon.
Kemer turned into a tourist paradise in the 1960s, when Turks built a modern highway leading to it and opened luxurious hotels and fashionable shops in the town.
“We like coming here," Gezel from Uzbekistan says, "we feel at home here. Everybody speaks Russian.”
