Ingushetia to buck stereotypes

The Resorts of the North Caucasus presented to the government a project of additional mechanism on state guarantees to investors of the North Caucasus tourist cluster. “Despite statements of some commenters, we suggest implementation of effective mechanisms of state guarantees which will provide long-term stable financing of the project due to private investors,” the chairman of the Executive Council of the RNC, Ahmed Bilalov, states. Ingushetia plans to build resorts of Tsori and Armkhi within the framework of the tourist cluster project by 2020. Some tourist companies have already included tours across Ingush mountains into their price-lists. “The French and the Spanish should not mind, as our sights are as beautiful as theirs. There is no other such an open-air museum in the world. We are focused on complex development of resorts,” the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov says.

Today the Ingush authorities try to promote their resorts through press-tours to the valley of the Armkhi River, the Thei-Loam Mountain, the Christian church of Tkhaba-Yerdy of the 8th century, the fortress-castle of Vovnushki, the Lyazhginsky Waterfall, and the castle complex of Egikal. The VK correspondent in Nazran, Pavel Tsoroyev, visited these places and talked to the participants of the press-tour.

“I have visited your republic for the first time. I have seen fantastic landscapes here. Medieval towers are very beautiful, even those which were ruined. These are remains of the great culture. The tourist potential of Ingushetia is huge. I have been to many places and I must say I like Ingushetia more than the Alps. There are few tourists in the Ingush mountains and everything remains virgin. I can’t help but feel unity with nature. The Ingush surprised me – hospitable, moderate, communicable,” the journalist from the French newspaper “Tribune” in Russia, Greenspan Emmanuelle, told VK.

“The republic has to undergo a difficult path in the tourist sphere. Negative stereotypes should be destroyed. Often negative ideas come to people’s minds faster than positive views. Spreading information among people is priority: that everything is safe here. Piquet tours with price-lists will promote the republican touristic product. Guest homes in mountains are competitive. The unified booking system should be organized for any touristic operator could sell tours. At the same time there must be no exaggerations – too many tourists is not good either,” the representative of the official site of Rostourism, Yuri Shchegolkov, expressed his views to VK.

Daria Venchislavicheva from Interfax-Tourism don’t want to see too many tourists in Ingushetia as well: “This beauty might be ruined. Virginity is your salt. There is a negative atmosphere over Ingushetia in Russia rather than abroad. One has to explain people that negative aspects exist everywhere, including Moscow. As for tourism, I think walking routs are of high priority. Ingushetia is a wellspring for tourists who are looking for ethnic hue.”

“I have many times been to the Caucasus, but I am in Ingushetia for the first time,” the chief of the Efe Agency’s bureau in Russia and the CIS, Bas Fernandes Migel, told VK. “I have notices remains of the tragedy of 1944 when the unique heritage of the people was destroyed. It is important to reconstruct everything and return people to mountains. As for development of tourism in the republic, there is a lot of work. Tourism will open new opportunities for your regions.”
