Ingushetia wants to be closer to Elbrus, participating in a national project
The "Height 5642" project, named after the highest peak of Mount Elbrus is expected to create a "tourist miracle" over the next 7-10 years. Arhiz in Karachay-Cherkessia, Mamison in North Ossetia, the north slope of Mount Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria, Lago-Naki in Adygea and Matlas in Dagestan have been selected as five pilot sites. Ingushetia is also planning to participate in this grand project.
The Russian government will offer investors benefits and government guarantees to promote investments in the project. The new resorts will have the status of special economic zones. Companies will not pay any taxes, except VAT, and will receive preferential loans. The developers are confident that the project will be paid off in 10-15 years. There are not yet any estimates concerning the number of tourists that might come to North Caucasus. But numbers will also be made up of foreign tourists, including tourists from India, China, Japan, South Korea and Arab countries. Alexander Khloponin, the President's authorised envoy in the North Caucasian Military District, is going to turn the North Caucasus into a tourist paradise. The project will cost at least 450 billion rubles.
The construction of the facility is planned in Dzheyrahskiy region of the republic, which is the quietest in terms of safety in the area and has excellent conditions for ski tourism with ten months a year of weather favorable for skiing. In addition Dzheyrahsko-Assinsky State Historical-Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve is situated in the area.
