‘’My desire? That the multimedia part of the school be at the highest level!’’

In Moscow a joint expert and media event to mark the final of the competition for the best history lesson ‘Great Patriotic War: the lessons of war and the history of the common Victory’ has come to an end.  The competition was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, it was conducted in two stages from February 24 to July 17. Its goal was to support a new format of the lessons of history, contributing to the education of military and patriotic feelings among schoolchildren, identifying common historical roots of the Russian and Belarusian peoples. Participants may be any teacher of history aged 28 years or younger. Young teachers were offered a choice of five topics for presentations and multimedia scenario of a school lesson on the history of the Great Patriotic War. The competition winner was Constantine Diyanov of the Omsk region (Russia) and in the number of laureates included, in particular, Aida Agayeva from the Dagestani district of Izberbash. The young teacher spoke to Vestnik Kavkaza about herself and her work.

- In this competition I am the only one from Dagestan. I graduated from School №10, and I am working there. My mother was an example for me, she is a primary school teacher, and my teachers have now become my colleagues, but I still have great respect for them.

I work with children of the 5-9 grades. I have already seen one class from start to finish, although my overall experience is five years, but as a historian I have worked for three years. I never regretted becoming a teacher, because history is a very important subject. Children often ask why it is important to know history. I give a lot of examples, but today I liked the words of the Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, Grigory Rapota: "Every aspect of human life is history. Hence the importance of this subject is doubtless to form an interesting, useful individual for society."

- Why did the jury like your project?

- I had to choose from five topics. I chose ‘A person in war, individual and collective contribution to the victory.’ You can talk a lot about it, and I gave examples from the lives of ordinary people, not some famous generals, but ordinary people. In the book, ‘The Dead are Speaking’  there are letters that soldiers sent from the front to their families. These are simple, uncomplicated notes. But they expressed all the pain, all the experience. I will give a lesson on this in the next academic year.

- During the conference there was much talk about whether today's children are like children of the previous generation. What do you think?

- Children, I think, are a little bit different. But everything is in our hands. We can restore an effective system of education. I think it all depends on the teacher. There are guys who do not want to deal with it, when they tried to be interested, in my opinion, they have no purpose in life, and this comes from the family.

- What other problems do teachers in Dagestan face?

- Global problems do not arise. We would love to have historical maps. It would be nice to work with the guys on a multimedia card. The usual map is not seen by the students from the last desks, and if the board map is displayed, you can zoom it to some city, some battle show. That is the only wish, for the multimedia section to be at a high level.
