Today the competition in gymnastics at the First European Games in Baku has come to an end. On the last day the representative of the Azerbaijani team, Marina Durunda, managed to win a silver medal for her country. The head coach of the Azerbaijani national rhythmic gymnastics team, Mariana Vassileva, spoke to Vestnik Kavkaza about her impressions of the long-awaited medal.
- Please, share your impressions of today.
First of all, I want to say thank you for being by my side, and supporting us. I feel very happy and proud that we were able to win the silver medal in the last performance. I do not know why, but we always do everything at the last moment, but most important thing is that we managed to do this. Thank God!
- Could you tell us about Marina’s performance that helped her to receive the award.
- If you remember, she performed this exercise to Azerbaijani national music six weeks ago at the European Championships in Minsk. She managed to win bronze. We now have a silver medal. I think everyone liked her performance. Azerbaijani music is very emotional and catchy. Marina loves this track and likes to perform to this music.
- What are you preparing for any competitions now?
- We will have a break for about 3-4 days. And after that we will begin to prepare for the World Cup, which is to be held in early September in Germany. This will be a very important tournament. I hope we will succeed there, and that you will support us.
