Today Baku hosts the FIG Congress. Vestnik Kavkaza talked to President of FIG Morinari Watanabe about development of gymnastics in the world and contribution of the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation to the work.
- How do you assess contribution of the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation to global development of gymnastics?
- The Azerbaijani Federation holds a lot of events and competitions. All of them meet global standards. We love being here in Baku. AGF is a strong federation which develops and pushes gymnastics forward. We can see a special attention paid to gymnastics in Azerbaijan.
- What do you think about the work of AGF President, the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva?
- Mehriban Aliyeva does a great job supporting gymnastics. It’s important to note that she does it not only in Azerbaijan but also in the world.
- How do you assess cooperation between FIG and UEG under Farid Gaibov’s management?
- Farid is my brother. I support everything that Farid supports. We cooperate very well.
- What does FIG do to attract wider audience to gymnastics?
- In any sports, not only in gymnastics, entertainment is important. I mean not only beauty of competitions in gymnastics. But we need to make gymnastic rules easier for understanding. We need entertainment.
