Along with theoretical studies we take part in implementation of the state programmes on establishing information society. The president of Azerbaijan Ilham aliyev pays great attention to these issues. We support such state programmes as Electronic Azerbaijan, Informatization of Education and On implementation of information communication in schools.

Today the world sees the process of establishing virtual space. Internet is the basis of information society in Azerbaijan. Our country not only establish information society but also cares about its security.  Azerbaijan doesn’t carry out information wars. It is aimed at increasing the living standard of the population. Today the base of the economy is the oil industry. However, Azerbaijan tries to build the economy on the grounds of knowledge.

The items are high. About 45% of the population are users. In 2003 there was only 5-10% of them. I think this year we will surpass 50% rate. It is European level.

What about internet services?

In recent years prices on internet services are falling dramatically. Azerbaijan has no its own satellite to enter the international computer net directly yet, we are clients of different satellite stations. Till we get our own satellite, the prices will depend on providers. We plan to buy the satellite next year.
