-How do you value the official visit of the Russian president to Azerbaijan?
-When going to Baku we always feel hospitality and a willingness to realize all the possibilities available for our traditionally friendly countries, also at the level of the presidents.
This visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Azerbaijan is not the first. Visits to Azerbaijan and summits have been regular for a long time, which, obviously, left traces on the meeting and its results. Constant regular work leads to positive changes, and being in Baku we were the witnesses of it.
-Cooperation between Baku and Moscow in the sphere of education is well developed. What has been done in Baku to widen contacts in the sphere? -Azerbaijan and Russia established good relations in the sphere of education. During the visit to Baku as part of the president's visit I had long talks with the Education Minister of Azerbaijan Misir Mardanov and the chancellor of the Baku University Abel Magerramov, the chancellor of the Institute of Foreign Languages Samed Seidov and other colleagues. Together we are preparing a big project - organizing the forum of the chancellors of the universities for the humanities and the deans of the humanitarian faculties of the counties of the CIS. The idea was formed last year at the forum of humanitarian public of Russia and Azerbaijan which took place in Baku. It had great success, and the presidents of our countries, Dmitry Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev, quoted its results many times. The heads of the countries approved and supported the initiative of RSUH and the Society of Friendship between Russia and Azerbaijan. Today we are about to realize it. On the 12-14th of October a broadened meeting of the Coordinating Council will take place, it is supposed to create the base for the Forum. I think it is a great achievement. We are actively preparing for this event, informing the participants in all countries of the CIS.-How would you value political and economical cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan after the visit of Medvedev?
-The results of the visit are very meaningful. First, finally the border agreement was signed. It is the first such agreement for Azerbaijan, so we can call this event unprecedented. It also shows the level of confidence between two countries and the leaders.
It also solved all difficulties related with the use of the Samur river and water consumption problems.
Second, trade agreements were signed by Gazprom and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and they increase the delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Russia. Also the negotiations on economic cooperation took place and many issues were discussed and solved. But also there are problem spots, mostly at the regional level. First of all I mean the Caucasus problems in which Azerbaijan and Russia are involved. But the process of dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan is going on, and the fact of such process is very important for the regions and our countries.
