Tengiz Doguzov: "Drug addiction and terrorism are linked"

One month ago a terrorist attack took place in Vladikavkaz, in which 18 lives were lost. The chairman of the North Ossetian unit of the all-Russian social movement "Russian National Union", Tengiz Doguzov, talked to VK about security problems and the fight against terrorism.

-What is planned to be done to prevent blasts like the one on the 9th of September?

-It was proposed to move all markets out of the city. The North Ossetian parliamentary deputy Boris Kantemirov proposed organizing units of Volunteer People's squads. Such groups would determine the list of activities agreed with the Counter-Terrorism Committee. They would also fight drug-dealing. It was also suggested to organize groups of 15-20 locals who would help the Interior Ministry's structures to guard the border of the republic with Ingushetia. Non-governmental organizations asked Ingushetia to abandon its plans to return the Prigorodny region.

-Who, according to your information, trains the terrorists?

- Experts assert that the terrorists are trained by professionals. Some observers say that the terrorists were supported by one of the Western secret services. Some experts name the United Kingdom, which gave political asylum to the leader of the Chechen separatists, Akhmed Zakayev.

I think the British-American counter-terrorism coalition is interested in supporting terrorism in the North Caucasus, as this makes it easier to control hydrocarbon production in the Caspian region. After the events in Beslan, Moscow asked for leaders of world terrorism to be extradited, but was refused.

Russia itself causes a puzzled reaction from the world community. Either Either Russia asks the world for help and allows interfering or it sorts things out itself. Will Russia be able to make a decision in this situation? Yes, if there is the political will.

Russia should start cooperating with countries that are really interested in fighting against terrorism.

-       What other reasons for terrorism could you name?

-       One of the main reasons is lack of work for young people, their inability to feed a family or to get an education. The officers still cannot solve these problems. All the budget money just disappears. I think we must struggle against corruption.

In addition, drug addiction has become a huge danger to national security. Drug addiction and terrorism are linked. If the law-enforcement agencies were not so corrupt, half of the terrorist attacks could be prevented.
