Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Monday with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Kremlin reported.

The two leaders discussed in detail various practical aspects of fostering mutually advantageous bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, including in the fields of energy, transport and logistics, and in the humanitarian sphere, the Kremlin said.

The telephone conversation between Putin and Tokayev was earlier reported by Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov. "In general, various aspects of bilateral relations were discussed, these include transport corridors and trade and economic cooperation," he said.

According to the Kremlin, Putin and Tokayev also reaffirmed their commitment to further consolidating the allied relationship between the two countries and agreed to continue communication. "This has been a multifaceted relationship, therefore the agenda has been quite busy, and the [two] presidents often communicate with each other," Peskov explained.
