The 9th session of the Georgia-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation was held in Tashkent.
Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili highlighted the long-term relations based on the friendship between Georgia and Uzbekistan at the session, where he has participated along with Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev.
Davitashvili highlighted Uzbekistan as an “important partner and a friendly state”, and noted the importance of strengthening the “pace of development of cooperation” with the country. He expressed hope that the Georgia-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation would have a great impact on the deepening of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The Georgian minister said the trade turnover between the countries had increased by 40% in 2022, with exports increasing to 30%, and emphasised the importance of promoting the two countries’ products on each other’s markets and removing “all obstacles negatively affecting the growth of trade”, in order to maintain the growing dynamic.
At the bilateral meeting, the parties also discussed issues of economic cooperation in various directions, including tourism, noting that the total number of visitors from Uzbekistan to Georgia had increased by 32% in 2022, the Economy Ministry said.
