The meeting was private. The heads of states discussed the state and prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, as well as international and regional issues, AZERTAC reports.
During the meeting, the Tajik leader noted that current interstate relations between Baku and Dushanbe are developing in many areas, and the parties are interested in strengthening them in all formats.
Aliyev, in turn, noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have a good history and a very good future.
"We cooperate in many areas and on international platforms, within the framework of international structures, and, of course, in a bilateral format. There are very good prospects for deepening cooperation, including in the trade and economic sphere, in the field of industrial cooperation, in the transport sector,” lham Aliyev said.
Then a meeting of the heads of state was held in an expanded format. According to the Tajik president, Aliyev's visit is a good opportunity to discuss in detail issues of Tajik-Azerbaijani relations and identify new points of growth.
"The peoples of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are bound by traditional ties and friendship that have great historical roots. It is gratifying that the interstate cooperation between our countries is consistently developing on a wide range of issues," Emomali Rahmon said.
The Tajik leader also noted that the agreements that the parties will conclude today will fill the agenda of bilateral relations with a qualitatively new content.
The head of Azerbaijan stressed that the peoples of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have been actively interacting for more than 30 years, and they managed to build a very solid foundation for their friendship.
New decisions will be made within the framework of the state visit. Many documents to be signed that will determine the further development of relations between the two countries, Ilham Aliyev added.
