The coach of the Azerbaijani national football team will remain in the team under the current contract, despite two devastating defeats against Austria and Sweden. This decision was made on Thursday by members of the AFFA executive committee.
At the Thursday meeting of the executive committee of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), the expediency of cooperation with the head coach of the national team, Gianni De Biasi, was discussed.
Head coach's report
During the meeting, the 66-year-old Italian reported on the game and the results of the Milli in the 2024 European Championship qualification. Members of the executive committee voiced their dissatisfaction with the European Qualifiers.
They underscored the need to analyze two devastating defeats from Austria and Sweden and prevent further mistakes. In particular, the players must be aware of the responsibility that falls on them when they are playing for the national team.
Decision of the AFFA Executive Committee
As a result of the discussion, the members of the executive committee decided not to dismiss Gianni De Biasi from the post of head coach. The coach will continue to work with the team under the current agreement.
After the meeting, the Italian left the AFFA headquarters without commenting to journalists.
