Registration of candidates for the 2024 presidential elections continues in Iran.

Today, on the second day of registration, the former chairman of the Majlis (Iranian parliament), who is now a member of the Expediency Council under Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Ali Larijani, underwent the registration procedure.

During a conversation with media representatives, the politician named his priorities, which he would adhere to if elected. According to Larijani, first of all, he will work on "lifting sanctions".

It should be noted that Ali Larijani headed the Iranian parliament for 12 years (from 2008 to 2020). Moreover, he already has experience participating in presidential elections. In 2005, Larijani ran for the post and ended up finishing sixth among a total of seven candidates. He is now 66 years old.

According to Turkish media, Larijani could become one of the main contenders for victory. Another potential leader in the future elections is the current Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
