Former Iranian President to take part in new elections

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad intends to take part in the next presidential elections. Local media reported this.

On Sunday, June 2, the ex-president arrived at the election headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to register his candidacy.

Ahmadinejad served as president for eight years, from August 2005 to August 2013.

When will the elections be held?
Early presidential elections in the Islamic Republic are scheduled for June 28. The elections were called after former President Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash on May 19.

Registration of candidates for the post of president in the country started last Thursday. At the moment, 17 candidates are known to be registered.
