Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on being elected Iranian president, according to the Kremlin website.
"I hope that your activity as president will facilitate the further boosting of constructive bilateral cooperation on all tracks to benefit our friendly peoples, in the interests of easing regional security and stability," the statement reads.

Putin noted that Moscow and Tehran "efficiently coordinate efforts in resolving the pressing issues of the international agenda" and stressed the friendly and good-neighborly nature of Russian-Iranian ties.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has also sent a congratulatory letter to the newly elected Iranian President.
He said that Baku attaches great importance to the Azerbaijan-Iran relations, built on solid foundations such as common religious and cultural roots, friendship and brotherhood.
"It is gratifying that over the past decades, our mutually beneficial cooperation has developed dynamically and reached its current level, gaining new content in all domains, especially in the economy, transport, energy and humanitarian spheres," Ilham Aliyev said.
The head of state noted the agreements reached on the future development areas of Azerbaijan-Iran relations and the implemented joint projects serve the well-being of their countries.
