The United States has frozen the provision of aid to Georgia following the indefinite postponement of the Noble Partner 2024 military exercise, U.S. Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya said.

According to her, Georgia’s integration into the EU has also been suspended.

Zeya called the actions of Georgian authorities anti-democratic and undermining the republic’s Euro-Atlantic course, accusing the ruling Georgian Dream party of dissemination of disinformation.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held talks with the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights.

The meeting also highlighted “challenges arising in the recent period”, according to the Government Administration.

"Stressed the need for rebooting and improving our bilateral partnership in pursuit of delivering the benefits of our strategic partnership. Discussed pre-election environment and the significance of upholding human rights for ensuring free and safe, transparent elections," Irakli Kobakhidze wrote on X.

The Georgian PM confirmed his Government's commitment to “rejuvenating” bilateral relations, pointing out the “special importance” attached, in this process, to “reciprocal steps and pragmatic, rational and fair approaches”.
