Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili will file a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court today to seek the annulment of the foreign agents law.
“Salome Zurabishvili believes that the law adopted by Georgian Dream is anti-national and incompatible with the constitution. If the Constitutional Court accepts the president’s claim, her interests will be defended by Eka Beselia,” the Georgian TV channel Pirveli reported.
Zourabichvili will request to determine whether the adopted law complies with Article 78 of the Georgian Constitution. This article implies that constitutional bodies must take all measures to integrate the country into the EU and NATO.
The law adopted by the ruling party in May has not entered into force yet.
