Nine people were detained on Monday in connection with an attack on a police station in Türkiye's Izmir, local media reported.
The 16-year-old assailant was captured after being wounded in the incident. Authorities have seized his mobile phone and computer, while a special team is examining his online and GSM communications.
As part of the probe, police detained two in connection with the attack in Ankara, one in the southeastern Sanliurfa province, and an Iranian national in Istanbul.
With these arrests, the total number of people in custody has risen to nine, including the attacker, his parents, and two of his friends.
The attacker opened fire with a pump-action shotgun at the Salih Isgoren Police Station in the Balcova district at around 8:50 a.m. local time (05:50 GMT), killing two police officers and wounding two others and a civilian. One of the injured officers remains in critical condition.
Investigations into whether the attack was linked to terrorism are underway.
