Mikhail Chudakov, Deputy Director of the IAEA and Head of the Agency’s Nuclear Energy Department, stated that Yerevan should consider building a Russian-designed unit at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).
He noted that Armenia's existing NPP has exhausted its service life, making a new facility necessary.
"The most logical solution is to build a new Russian-designed unit to replace the existing one,"
Mikhail Chudakov said.
Chudakov criticized recent decisions driven by political motives rather than practical considerations, particularly in Eastern Europe, where some countries prefer untested alternatives over proven Russian technology.
