Azerbaijan plans to cut its defense spending by 8.6% over the next five years. By 2030, the republic expects to spend less than $5 billion on its military.
According to the budget plan, defense expenditures will be reduced to around 8 billion manat (approximately $4.7 billion) by 2030.
The Azerbaijani Finance Ministry set defense spending for 2026 at about $5.12 billion, which would account for roughly 21% of the state's total budget.
Within three years, this figure is projected to decrease to 18.4% of the national budget.
For the current year, the state budget has allocated $5 billion for defense.
