Russia and Iraq have long-standing relations, in the history of which there has not been a single dark spot, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Latif Rashid.
"We have very deep, long-standing relations. And in the history of these relations, there has not been a single dark spot," Putin said.
The Russian president added that Russia and Iraq have always had very good relations. According to him, many Russian companies show interest in further work with Iraq.
"We have good relations evolved fundamentally in the economic sphere. Many our companies are working and showing interest in further work," Putin said.
Relations between Russia and Iraq are diversifying and becoming more versatile by their nature, the Russian president added.
Vladimir Putin said he would be glad to welcome the Iraqi leader to Russia whenever it is convenient.
