Visa regime partially lifted between Azerbaijan and number of countries

Azerbaijan and the Maldives have mutually exempted holders of ordinary passports from visa requirements.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed a law approving the “Agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of Maldives on the mutual visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports.”

Ilham Aliyev also signed laws approving several other bilateral agreements - with Bahrain, the Dominican Republic, Suriname, Angola, and Guinea-Bissau:

  • the "Agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and Suriname on the exemption of holders of diplomatic and service passports from the visa requirement",
  • the “Agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of Angola on the mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and service passports”,
  • the "Agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and Bahrain on the exemption of diplomatic passport holders from visa requirements",
  • the "Agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and the Dominican Republic on the exemption of holders of diplomatic and service/official passports from the visa requirement",
  • the "Agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau on mutual exemption of holders of diplomatic, service and special passports from visa".

All the agreements were signed in New York on September 22-24, 2025.
