Iran plans to restore natural gas supplies to Iraq within the coming week, as reported by Iranian media citing an engineer from the Iranian Ministry of Energy.
According to him, the suspension was caused by the shutdown of several power units and reduced capacity at others, leading to a loss of 4,000 to 4,500 megawatts in the national grid.
"The Iranian side sent a telegram informing the Ministry of Energy of the complete cessation of gas supplies due to unforeseen circumstances",
Iran's Ministry of Energy said.
Iran typically supplies between 35% and 40% of Iraq's natural gas and electricity requirements.
