According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Turgumbayev, 1,822 criminal cases were initiated and being investigated in the republic following the large-scale riots that took place in the country in January.
According to the press service of the President of Kazakhstan, on Saturday, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the leadership of the presidential administration, the Security Council, the Prosecutor General's Office, the National Security Committee, the ministries of defence and internal affairs. He was informed about the progress on previously given instructions aimed at stabilizing the situation in the country.
