13 sets of medals to be played for on eleventh day of First European Games

Today in Baku the eleventh day of the European Games has started, during which competitions will be held in shooting, archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, sambo and volleyball.

Today the athletes will contend for 13 medal sets: 8 sets in sambo (men's up to 57 kg, up to 74 kg, up to 90 kg, over 100 kg and women's up to 52 kg, up to 60 kg, up to 64 kg, up to 68 kg), one in archery, one in athletics (team championship) and three in shooting (mixed team skeet, mixed team 10m Air Rifle, mixed team 10m air pistol).

The quarterfinal competitions in boxing will be held in five men's weight categories (up to 49 kg, up to 52 kg, up to 56 kg, up to 81 kg and over 91 kg) and two women's (up to 51 kg and up to 75 kg). Russian boxers Bator Sagaluev (up to 49 kg), Vasily Vetkin (up to 52 kg), Bahtovar Nazirov (up to 56 kg), Pavel Silyagin (up to 81 kg), Hasan Gimbatov ( over 91 kg), Sayana Sagataeva (51 kg) and Yaaroslava Yakushina (75 kg) will fight in the semi-finals. Azerbaijan will be represented in the quarterfinals by Salman Alizada (up to 49 kg), Elvin Mamishzade (up to 52 kg), Tayfur Aliyev (up to 56 kg), Teymur Mamedov (up to 81 kg) and Magomedrasul Majidov (over 91 kg).

The preliminary round in men's volleyball teams will be held today, where the Azerbaijani team (group A) will meet the Turkish team and the Russians will play the Italians (group B). Today is also the first day of the badminton competitions, which will end only on Sunday, a few hours before the closing ceremony of the First European games.
