14th package of sanctions imposed against Russia

The EU Council said that today it had approved the 14th package of sanctions against Russia.

"The new package expands personal restrictions to include 116 individuals and organizations," the statement reads.

The EU introduced restrictions on the transit of Russian LNG through European ports as part of the 14th package of sanctions against Russia and also prohibited investments, the provision of goods and services for the completion of the Arctic LNG 2 and Murmansk LNG projects.

At the same time, the EU imposed restrictions on exports of dual-use goods and technologies against 61 companies from countries outside the community, including Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, the UAE and Turkey.

The EU also banned its airlines from operating charters and private flights for individuals and legal entities from Russia, and has also banned any non-scheduled flights for Russians over its territory.

The EU banned media and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from receiving funding from Russia.
