The Afghanistan security forces killed 39 militants in five provinces of the country, including 31 Daesh terrorists, the Afghan Defense Ministry said.
The armed terrorist were discovered and killed in Nangarhar, Ghazni, Kandahar, Takhar and Helmand provinces by Afghan army, police and security forces joint offensive operation, the ministry said.
Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, due to the continuing Taliban insurgency, which has expanded its activities in Afghanistan to major cities. At the same time, Kabul faces challenges from other extremist groups, most notably Daesh, outlawed in many countries including Russia and the United States, Sputnik reports.
