4.7 earthquake hits Istanbul

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit Istanbul and the Marmara region Saturday, Daily Sabah reports.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake struck 22.7 kilometers (14 miles) south of Istanbul's Silivri district at a shallow depth of 7 km.

A powerful magnitude 5.8 tremor shook Istanbul in September, causing momentary panic across the city.
