The XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival is being held in Baku.
Gymnasts, judokas, swimmers, cyclists and athletes will be competing for 23 sets of medals on the fifth day of the festival, games will be also held between the tennis teams. The national team of Azerbaijan is represented in five of the abovementioned sports.
The men's and women's artistic individual all-around finals will be held today (at 11:00am and 15:00 Moscow time respectively). Azerbaijan will be represented by Samad Mammadli.
The judokas will be performing at 09:30 Moscow time, the finals will start at 15:30 Moscow time.
Azerbaijan's Aytaj Gardashkhanli - Finland's Erika Vauhkonen (57kg), Azerbaijan's Vugar Talibov - the winner of the meeting Belarus's Dzianis Yauseyenka / Bosnia's Mustafa Habib (73kg), Azerbaijan's Matin Rzazade - the winner of the meeting Lithuania's Pijus Mikalauskas / Georgia's Elguja Shincharashvili (66kg)
The qualifying competitions and finals will be held in the swimming competitions. Swimmers are competing for medals in men’s 200 m backstroke, men's 50m freestyle, women's 200m freestyle, women's 100m butterfly and mixed 4x100m freestyle relay. Azerbaijan is represented by Maksim Petrenko (men's 50m and 200m freestyle), Ramil Valizade (men's 100m butterfly) and Maryam Sheikhalizadehkhangah (women's 100m butterfly).
Azerbaijan is represented by six cyclists: Nofal Nureyev, Nikita Sitov, Mustafa Mukhtarli, Lala Abdurakhmanova, Gulshan Ismayilova and Maleika Iskenderova.
In athletics, the qualifying competitions in triple vault and high jump will be held today. Azerbaijan is represented by Vahid Karimov (800m), Ayana Seyusheva (100 m, hurdling) and Laman Huseynova (high jump classification)
The XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival is being held in Baku on July 21-27. The festival will be attended by more than 3,900 athletes from 48 European countries. Athletes will compete in ten kinds of sports - gymnastics, athletics, basketball, cycling, handball, judo, swimming, tennis, volleyball and wrestling. In total, athletes will compete for 135 sets of medals.
