Eight Russian universities are in the top 100 of the 2016 edition of the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings by Subject. It includes 17 Russian universities, taking a total of 71 positions.
The Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov is the leader in the number of subjects (12). At the same time the institution has received the highest place (17th) for linguistics.
The Saint Petersburg State University was ranked 26th for mining engineering.
A place in the top 50 rankings of the best universities in the discipline of Performing Arts was received by the Moscow State Conservatory P.I. Tchaikovsky ranked 27th and the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory was ranked 47th for arts.
The National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and the Novosibirsk State University were included in the list of the top 151-200 for physics and astronomy, Interfax reports.
