A month has passed since the beginning of the Russian military actions in Syria. After a month since the beginning of operations, the Air Space Forces of Russia (FSI) in Syria have destroyed more than 1600 units of terrorist infrastructure, the chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff, Colonel-General Andrey Kartapolov said today.
"A month has passed since the launch of the Russian air group, and now it is time to draw some conclusions. In one month Russian aircraft made 1391 operational flights and destroyed 1623 terrorist targets,’’ Kartapolov said.
This number consists of 249 different control centers and communication centers, 51 training camps for terrorists, 35 factories and workshops, where terrorists are armed with explosive devices and bombs, 131 ammunition and fuel depots, as well as 371 strong points and fortified units, 786 field camps and various databases. In the last three days alone, aircraft of the Russian air group carried out 164 operational flights and destroyed 285 targets of the terrorist organization Islamic State.
‘‘During the last 24 hours the Russian aviation group made 59 operational flights and destroyed 94 terrorist targets in the provinces of Hama, Idlib, Latakia, Damascus, Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor," the official representative of the Russian Defence Ministry, Major-General Igor Konashenkov said today.
Other leading Russian experts also told a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza about how effectively Russian troops operate in the country, as well as how Russian military equipment is used and what the limits of the effectiveness of Russian military operations are.
As the President of Global Interests in Washington (USA) Nikolay Zlobin said in an interview with a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, Russia became the second country after the United States to began to use military force in the region, which is far from the country.
"In principle, only the so-called superpowers can do it. And if Russia wants to be a superpower, it is the right thing for it. Another thing is that it is not good news for the US, because the US military doctrine, which has been adopted bit by bit in recent years, implies an absence of countries that can, except for the United States, call themselves superpowers. That is why this attitude is not described as pacific. But in fact the American elite was happy with the fact that Russia had begun to participate in this operation, because many friends of Russia believe that it is useful, including the United States. Other ‘unsupporters’ of Russia believe that Russia will plunge into this war for a long time and it will lead to losses. But in any case, this step has not left anyone indifferent," the expert pointed out.
