The AGF Award for best performance in rhythmic gymnastics is very important, the secretary general of the International Gymnastics Federation says

The idea of the award for the best performance, which presents the Gymnastics Federation of Azerbaijan in international competitions in rhythmic gymnastics is very good and very important, the secretary general of the International Gymnastics Federation, André Gueisbuhler, told a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the World Cup finals of the FIG series in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Baku.

‘’This award from the AGF is very important for me. Performance, in my opinion is the most important in rhythmic gymnastics. Of course,  complexity is also essential in the exercises – everybody tries to do the most difficult elements possible. But the beauty of this sport is the most important thing," the secretary general of the International Gymnastics Federation said.

"Therefore, it's a great idea of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation to give an award for performance. I enjoy this award. Congratulations to the AGF executives, who embodied such a good idea,’’ he said.

André Gueisbuhler also expressed deep satisfaction with the way the World Cup is held in Baku. "There is a great venue and a perfect organization. We are all very pleased to see how Azerbaijan is developing gymnastics. If tomorrow’s competitions will be held at the same level as in the last two days, the assessment of the tournament will be ten out of ten,’’ the secretary general of the International Gymnastics Federation said.

"Azerbaijan has made very great progress in gymnastics as a whole. It is one of the most powerful countries in rhythmic gymnastics and it has significant opportunities in other disciplines. At the Olympic Games, I think, the Azerbaijani sportsmen will be able to show good results. If the republic will continue to coach gymnasts in all disciplines, as in gymnastics, a few years later the sports gymnasts, acrobats and gymnasts on trampoline will rise to the level of the Azerbaijani Graces,’’ he hopes.

Recall that today Baku hosted the second day of the finals of the World Cup of the International Gymnastics Federation on rhythmic gymnastics. It is attended by 26 athletes and 9 teams from 17 countries.
